Rich @ NAB 2012

The show floor at NAB was busy as always. Lots of different people milling around looking for the latest and greatest broadcast solutions. I personally find the South Hall is the place to be – definitely the most foot traffic as large vendors like Grass Valley, Adobe and AVID are there – generating interest from a wide swath of the various attendees at the show.

Our friends from CPC were in the South Hall, demoing the latest versions of their excellent captioning tools. Another DMDS partner, Telestream, had a strong presence in the South Hall – showing off the latest in their transcode and file workflow tools. We have a special offer coming soon for DMDS Pro customers interested in their ‘Episode’ product – which is an excellent tool for prepping files for upload to our system. Stay tuned!

When not connecting with partners and vendors, I was busy presenting at the Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA) booth. I participated in a presentation titled “AS-12: Simplifying Commercial Delivery Workflow from Agency to Media Outlet”. It was a joint presentation with Harold Geller from Ad-Id and Oliver Morgan from MetaGlue. On the Tuesday, the presentation was introduced by Bob Liodice – the President & CEO of the Association of National Advertisers.

During the presentation we showed how easy it was to utilize our support for both Ad-Id and AS-12 to automatically populate metadata and effectively translate and communicate that data efficiently and accurately from Production House upload; agency sending of order; through to distribution and receipt by traffic managers and network operations/media managers at stations. As part of the demos we showed off the new QC tool available via the DMDS Manager and the DMDS M.E. customized file delivery portal for broadcasters.

The presentations were well attended and the feedback very positive. We look forward to posting recordings of the presentation online in the near future.
