About – CV

My name is Richard Klosa. I like to consider myself a serial entrepreneur and digital media innovator. Over the past 13 years I’ve worked on, managed or led IT projects in a wide variety of fields. Since 2008, I’ve been employed as the Chief Technology Officer at Yangaroo Inc – an innovative technology company focused on building a robust digital distribution platform for moving media assets from creation through to broadcast.

In my previous role as Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder of J!VE Media Technologies Inc., I led my team to a 2002 Canadian New Media Award for ‘Most Promising Company’ and recognition from the Branham Group as one of the Top 25 Up and Comers. I led the development of one of the first enterprise level digital rights and content syndication systems for digital media assets through decentralized and peer based networks and authored a definitive book on the subject entitled “Building A Working Revenue Model For The Digital Distribution Of Copyrighted Media” (1999).

More recently, I’ve worked with several unique and innovative organizations focused on providing solutions across a broad range of industries. As the Vice President of Technology at Cubic Health Inc., I architected and led the development of the ‘Cubic Health Canadian Drug Database™’, a comprehensive reporting and analytics system designed to aid Canadian employers in managing their prescription drug benefit.

As the Director of Development at Idealogical Systems, I helped establish and manage a diverse development team focused on building software solutions for mid-sized private and public sector groups, from requirements through to fruition.

My ‘wheel-house’ is definitely digital media and I’ve focused a lot of time on some very interesting proof-of-concept development projects, including work on an MPEG-4 based Micro-Payment client/server application, an Open Media Distribution Server (web services enabled application for use with home media centers) and an Automated Media Cataloging & Tracking solution utilizing the MPEG-7 framework.
I’ve been on the creative side of the music business as well. I’ve enjoyed distinction as a Dance Music producer, having produced and remixed several Gold and Platinum selling records. I play a variety of instruments including drums, keyboard and bass.

I graduated from Ryerson University’s Radio & Television arts program with an Honours B.A.A. I’ve got my Project Management Professional (PMP) designation as well as being a Certified SCRUM master.
