Guardiola Got it Wrong…

From previous posts I blasted Jupp when he made some foolish decisions. He certainly righted all of those last season and got the most out of his team. I think Guardiola has done some interesting and positive things this year. Trying to bring Muller back to his natural position as a striker – although a failure – was interesting and I could support it. Moving Kroos back to defensive midfield…great…been pushing for that. How long was Schweine ok on the front foot and really found his power and strength when moved to the back. Rafinha actually playing some minutes – great – he isnt THAT bad. Lahm in the middle…sure – not a great idea but it could work. Pushing for Thiago, another great call…if only he wasn’t made of glass.
But stupid decisions at crucial times have been very costly. A few weeks back, playing a C team in a Bundesliga match was a bad idea…you wanna send the kids out for a run – due it in the II. I am shocked Sammer let it happen. I recall last year when Bayern wrapped things up, he wouldn’t even allow a celebration on the field until everything was won! Where is that discipline now? When Pep showed his team…why did nobody ask questions about why Rafinha was on the pitch and why Muller was off the field. The possession game is fine. Their dominance of the ball while making for less interesting Football…is still entirely acceptable. I think the failures have come down to the same issue each time – individual bad decisions. Lahm needed to be at Right Back. Muller need to be center mid to break those two idiots Pepe and Ramos – or in the least draw a yellow and force a more tepid style of play. About the only positive I can say – at least he started Mario at the front. There is lots of work now to do at home. 2 goals minimum. I am interested to see how Pep reacts here. Does he cave and listen to the critique…or become dogmatic and stick to the old formula.
